n4

okay, so i'm new to the whole blogging thing, but i just wanted to check in (just in case there's a chance) w/everyone about the possibility of switching n4 lecture to 1, 5-hour day as opposed to 2, 2.5 hour days. i know ms. wells says it probably won't happen, but i don't want to give up if there is any glimmer of hope... from the sounds of things, 67 out of 70 people were extremely interested in making this change. while i understand this makes for a longer day, for those of you who oppose this proposition, please consider your classmates. many of us have families, jobs, commute, etc. i recognize that we all made an investment in our future by deciding to pursue a degree/career in nursing, and at times, it seems like somewhat of a sacrifice. that being said, if there is any way to make things less challenging than they already are for the significant majority of the class, isn't it something to consider? i am not looking for an easy out or a lazy compromise, i just want to do what's best for the majority if it could make things less stressful in the long run. there is already enough stress and craziness with life, school, etc... why not try and simplify?? i truly believe it could positively effect my (and many other's) performance as a student, a nurse, and, most importantly, a human being! i know i'm a cheeseball and that i might be wasting my time. however, i needed to give it a shot so i don't feel like there was more i "could've done" to maintain my sanity. any thoughts??

  1. Thanks for going through all this trouble to get this discussion going. I would really like to switch to one day for lecture. There are those who commute, have families and jobs, and although one lecture would be a stretch, it may be easier on families, offer another day of the week to work, and a little easier on the pockets since gas is extremely expensive. These are definitely added stressors to an already full nursing school schedule, and of course it's all apart of a sacrifice that we've all chose to make. However, as you've stated, if making this change is for the best of the majority of the class than I would most definitely be willing to change. I do understand that there are those who may be very hesistant to this change for the same reasons that others may want to change: families and jobs! I would love to hear from those who do not want to make the change and hear about the types of things they are battling with. I hope everyone did well on their ATI exam and is studying hard for finals!

  2. Kim you said it so well. No doubt, it would be a busy lecture. However, I think many of us would truely benifit to switching to a one day lecture. I totally appreciate your footwork in this matter. Thanks so much and for most of us, good luck! I hope it works out.

  3. How does one get the lecture switched from 2 days to 1? Do you ask the instructor?
